One of the first paper picture book for kids i ever bought for myself was “Sardinen wachsen nicht auf Bäumen”. It was drawn in my hometown Luzern by Vera Eggermann.
In the book the cats Uli und Emile go on an adventurous journey with Italian fishmonger’s girl Valeria. They head for Sardinia, where, they think, sardines grow on trees….
Looking for fish & chips in London
Although we studied at the same school, i met Vera in London at Red Church street where she lived. Vera showed me where to buy cool stuff (Spitalfield Market) where to eat fish and chips and drink a nice pint (Electricity Showroom) and where to buy the best bagels… I have great memory’s…
